Isla Sorna and InGen To Return For Jurassic World: Dominion?

The exciting Jurassic World Dominion news continues thanks to an exciting new set picture sent to our friends at Chaos Theorem, and also covered by our friends at Jurassic Outpost.

The set picture in question presents an interesting look at a piece of cargo which has been transported from ‘Site B – Isla Sorna’. It is clear that the element in question may contain embryos from one of the facilities – as not only do we see ‘Caution – Severe Cold’ on the containment case, but we also see ‘Caution – Liquid Nitrogen’ on the open case of the containment device – suggesting that this indeed is holding embryos in a similar fashion to Nublar’s facilities.

Whilst the contents of the box appear clear, the photograph in question does call into question more about the potential timeframe of this set piece. The In-Gen logo on the box itself appears pretty prominent and hasn’t suffered any weathering – suggesting that this is taken place in the same time window as the box was first obtained.  Looking at the technology along the side of the workstation in the background we can see lots of glass beakers, but also an older style phone on the wall, and the appearance of what appears to be a partially-removed fossil on the wall. Whilst this technology could be misleading – it does seem as though we could be looking at a 1993 flashback sequence here.

However, it is important to remember that Isla Sorna was used as a breeding ground for Jurassic World – and, in fact, the logo does appear to be somewhat closer to the more modern version we see appearing in that sequel. I would make the argument that this is perhaps not a flashback, but could potentially be a flashback to after the Jurassic World incident, showing how Biosyn were able to steal embryos and other equipment from the island ahead of the events of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Indeed, it could be that the mysterious person on the phone to Hoskins in the first film was never Mills, but was, in fact, Dodgson. A flashback connecting these two characters could prove interesting – although it would call Hoskins’s allegiances throughout the first film into question.

Whatever we are looking at, it is exciting to see another laboratory location in Dominion which we know is not associated with the ‘good guys’. I am happy to see that genetics will hopefully be a focus of the new film – building on the idea of this technology now being out in the open for anyone to benefit from.
