Jurassic World Dominion Filming Reaches New Snowy Heights

Yesterday, the Hollywood Reporter shared two new behind-the-scenes set photos from the shooting of Jurassic World Dominion back in July of this year.

One photograph, on the set of the Dominion shoot, shows an expansive snowy environment – with huge, practical snowy mountains built into the set, and with what looks to be a frozen lake and some form of frozen  debris in front of them. It’s quite surreal seeing something as large as this location physically built, when recent films have had a stronger dependence on green screen – but I, for one, am loving the practical film making which is at play behind the scenes here!

It definitely looks like this location will tie into some of the photographs that we saw from Colin Trevorrow earlier this year, when the team were shooting on-location before the Coronavirus pandemic hit.

The second photo appears to be on the Second Unit’s production in Malta – with the warmer ambience and the old, stone architecture feeling much more akin to that country’s locations. Interestingly, there is someone stood  on an elevated area who looks a little bit like Barry – so could this be how he is reintroduced? Only time will tell.

The article also provides more insight from Producer Patrick Crowley:

"When you get up and running, you realize that you need to go over and talk to that crew person and say, 'Buddy, put the mask up over your nose.' Or you find the three guys who are just 18 inches away from each other talking about what a great time they had last weekend, and you have to break it up," says the movie's producer Patrick Crowley.

"We have people who are hired to do nothing but go, 'You need to get 2 meters away from him,' because you know that the success of the show and the likelihood of them continuing to have jobs in the industry is dependent on that." The film's cast and crew are not only staying in a nearby hotel bought out by the studio in an effort to maintain a quarantine bubble, they're also tested three times a week. To date, the production has processed a whopping 27,000 COVID-19 tests over the course of the shoot (the hotel staff is tested, too). At roughly $100 a pop, that's close to $3 million on testing alone. "Universal never blinked," says Crowley. "They said, 'You've got to do what you've got to do.' "

Whilst it isn’t much, it is exciting to see that production continues to crawl forwards as we approach Dominion’s 2021 Release Date.
